Mi Tierra Arts and Crafts Festival

In celebration of Mi Tierra Latin Fusion Restaurant first anniversary and continuing with their mission of sampling the Latino Culture through our food, music and art, we are proud to announce the 1st Annual Festival of Arts and Crafts of Mi Tierra Latin.

Come celebrate the love of art, music, and ...of course, food. The event is scheduled for the weekend of July 10, 2009 - starting Friday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 8:00 PM.

Light Up Arlington
July 3, 2009
Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m.

Arlington’s annual Independence Day celebration  moves to the Downtown/University District on Friday, July 3. Enjoy Light Up Arlington, a night filled with live music, great food and children’s activities topped off with a thrilling fireworks show. Click here for Map!

44th Annual Independence Day Parade
July 4, 2009 - 9:00 a.m.

Arlington on July 4 with the 44th Annual Independence Day Parade, which features about 150 decorative floats, marching bands and more than 3,000 participants. The event attracts more than 50,000 spectators. The parade begins at 9 a.m. This year’s theme is “Commemorating Our National Monuments and Memorials.”

Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series 
May 30 through July 3, 2009

The Levitt Pavilion brings the magic of music and the performing arts to Arlington in a whole new way – under the stars! Their performance schedule includes artists from all around the world and right in our own backyard, from jazz to hot Latin rhythms and world music to children's artists.

The Levitt Pavilion is located in Founders Plaza, 100 W. Abram St., at the corner of Abram and Center streets, directly across the street from City Hall.

All evening concerts this summer begin at 8 p.m. except for Wednesday Children's Night concerts, which begin at 7 p.m.

Caddo Lake, Place of Dreams
July 18 - September 13, 2009
 
"Caddo Lake, Place of Dreams" is an exhibition of paintings, drawings and photographs by Bruce Tinch. The exhibit celebrates the contribution of Mrs. Lady Bird Johnson and her life-time of work dedicated to natural conservation and beautification programs using wildflowers, as well as her work for wetland conservation and anti-litter campaigns.

The exhibition also includes photographs and paintings of her beloved East Texas where Bruce Tinch has a painting studio outside Palestine, Texas in the small town of Montalba on his Spirit Valley Ranch. 

Darien Rainforest Baskets of Panama
Through July 4, 2009

This exhibition will explore the history and artisty of the Wounaan and Embera Indians who inhabit this lush and most neotropical rainforest in the Western Hemisphere outside the Amazon Basin. The Darien Gap is where the Pan American Highway is interrupted on its way to South America. Their basket weaving is some of the finest ever woven in the world.

Johnnie High's Country Music Revue
Show times are every Saturday night at 7:30 pm

The Johnnie High's Country Music Revue is a weekly country music variety show held at the Arlington Music Hall in Arlington.

The Revue has been a success for thirty-three years and features an 8 member cast of singers, a band made up of professional musicians, and back-up singers. The show introduces at least 20 or 25 new performers each month.

Live shows are featured weekly on RFD-TV. Over 200 cable companies, DirecTV and DishNetwork carry RFD.  Show are also broadcast in High Definition on RFD-TV HD.

Teen Arts Underground!

A space for teens ages 13-18 to create digital, literary and visual arts. The Studio is located on the basement level of the George W. Hawkes Central Library. 
 
Teen Arts Underground users will need a Studio ID to use the Studio.  We'll make you one the first time you come in.  Just make sure you bring your library card and a form of photo identification (or the parent/guardian attached to your card with his/her photo identification).

Regular Studio Hours are: 
Monday - Thursday 3-9 pm
Friday 3-6 pm
Saturday 9-6 pm
Sunday 2-6 pm
